What is stress?

The stress response in our bodies is activated to help us to deal with things in our life that make us feel under pressure. What triggers stress will vary massively from person to person. Often it is caused by new experiences or situations you feel you have little or no control over.

When we encounter a situation that we perceive as stressful, the body produces stress hormones that trigger our fight-or-flight response. 
In some circumstances, this response can be helpful in getting us through a situation such as running a marathon, or
